Maria da Assunção, a victim of cholera, dies in Santarém to where she had travelled to accompany her brother Miguel
The news came in no. 17 of the Constitutional Chronicle, 20 January 1834, Monday edition:

Secretary of State for Affairs of the Kingdom.

Having Her Most Loyal Majesty mourned for a two-month period of time as a sign of her feeling at the death of her August Aunt the Most Serene Princess Maria d’Assumpção, that God Was Served to call to His Greater Glory, Has His Imperial Majesty the Duke of Bragança, Regent in the name of the Queen doth Order that the Court undertake the same struggle mourning full mourning for half of that period of time and, alleviated for the rest f the time, due to count as from the day of tomorrow. Secretary of State of the Affairs of Kingdom, on 19 January 1834.
