Pedro de Sousa Holstein, a known supporter of the liberal cause, became a political exile in London following the usurpation of the throne by Miguel. He was one of the most active supporters of Pedro and going onto hold the posts of Minister of the Kingdom and of Foreign Affairs during the Regency Government in 1832.
