Maria da Glória sets off for Brazil from Portsmouth on the frigate Imperatriz in conjunction with Amelia and Prince Auguste de Leuchtenberg
The political situation in Portugal does not allow him to remain in Europe. On his return to Brazil, he is accompanied by Amélia, the future Empress of Brazil and her future mother-in-law and her brother, Augusto de Beauharnais, whom Queen Maria II shall later marry on 26th January 1835.
This is reported in no. 221 of the Lisbon Gazette, 18 September 1829, Friday edition:
Lisbon, 18 September.
From the mail ship that arrived yesterday we received notice that the Empress of Brazil and Princess Maria da Glória did leave Portsmouth for Rio de Janeiro on the 30th of the last month.
