King George IV of Britain receives Maria da Glória as Queen of Portugal
A report is published that attempted to downplay the relevance of the reception that King George IV of Britain granted to Maria da Glória, in no. 9 of Lisbon Gazette, 10 January 1829, Saturday edition:

The spirit of a revolutionary party, which has sought by all means to seek the support of Great Britain but all in vain, for its sinister purposes against this Kingdom, did ultimately publish in the Courrier of the 23rd of the last month in a false and fabricated account of the reception that His British Majesty did make to Her Serene Excellency the Princess of Grão-Pará. There might be nothing more stupid than believing in the recognition of a Sovereign of a Foreign Power is made through means of a lunch given by the Sovereignty of the Power!
