Pedro I signs the Constitutional Charter of Brazil

The news arrived in Lisbon via the British press and published in no. 161 of the Lisbon Gazette, 10 July 1824, Saturday edition:

« The Courrier of 17th June published the following: - «With the day of 25 March that which the Lord Pedro had set in a Decree published on the 15th for him to swear an oath to the Constitution, with this solemn occasion then celebrated with all due splendour. The Royal Princess also swore loyalty. The ceremony took place in the Chapel of Their Royal Highnesses. The People saluted him with grand acclamations.
