Birth of Pedro d’Alcântara de Bragança in the Room Don Quixote in the Royal Palace of Queluz at 6.30 in the morning
The news of the birth of Pedro, second male son of João (future King João VI) and Carlota Joaquina de Bourbon, is reported in no. 42 of the Lisbon Gazette, 16 October 1798, Tuesday edition:

LISBON 16 October.

Our Lady Princess, having completed her pregnancy did happily give birth on the 12th of this month at 6.30 in the morning to a healthy prince. This fortunate success was immediately announced with peels of bells from all the Churches of this Capital and rounds of artillery from the Fortress and the Ships of HRH docked in this port, which will immediately appear appropriately bedecked.
